Postdoctoral Associate

Posting Description

POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Nuclear Science and Engineering, to develop and apply high fidelity digital twins for nuclear systems colocated with large-scale data centers; focus on high fidelity and surrogate modeling of a prismatic high temperature gas reactor at the core and plant level. These models will be developed into a digital twin methodology, answering questions about plant layout, flexible operation and maintenance. The work will be done in close collaboration with faculty in the Nuclear Science and Engineering department. Will also include performing various research administration tasks that would typically be expected of postdocs including attending research update meetings, assembling project reports, and producing academic publications. These administration tasks will focus on ensuring the project sponsor and larger scientific community will benefit from the work performed.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: PhD in engineering, physics, computer science or closely related field completed within the previous five years and a minimum of two years of academic research experience in a related field; competency in python, MATLAB or some alternative will be considered. PREFERRED: A strong foundation in nuclear fission reactor physics or thermal hydraulics; experience in nuclear reactor modeling and simulation; or experience with plant dynamics modeling and academic publications.
