Job Description

Idaho State University's College of Science and Engineering invites applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Research Associate position, funded by the NSF EPSCoR program Idaho Community-Engaged Resilience for Energy-Water Systems (I-CREWS). This program facilitates community-engaged research with Tribal Nations and other Idaho communities to evaluate, model, and develop future scenarios for energy-water systems under environmental, technological, and social change.

The postdoctoral researcher will focus on modeling and simulation of energy-water systems such as groundwater, geothermal power, and other water-energy-ecological systems. The work will integrate hydrologic and ecological processes with energy-water infrastructure modeling, with opportunities to expand into related domains such as surface hydrology, GIS-based spatial modeling, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced data science.

The successful candidate will engage in cross-disciplinary research with faculty from Biological Science, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Science, and Geosciences, and will play a pivotal role in collaborative efforts with the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes as part of I-CREWS' commitment to community-driven research.

I-CREWS is a statewide research program focused on advancing resilience in energy-water systems through collaboration with Idaho's Tribal Nations and communities. This position will be embedded in that network, providing opportunities for collaboration with ISU's GIS Training and Research Center, the Center for Ecological Research and Education, and statewide research partners at Boise State University, the University of Idaho, and Idaho National Laboratory.

Questions about the position can be directed to the hiring committee chair, Dr. Bruce Savage at brucesavage@isu.edu.
