POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Earth, Atmospheric & Planetary Sciences, to work at the intersection of physical oceanography, numerical modeling, high-performance computing, and machine learning. The successful applicant will work with Assistant Professor Abigail Bodner, leveraging results from a state-of-the-art large-eddy simulation based on Oceananigans.jl that resolves scales ranging from tens of kilometers down to meter scales. The project will involve analyzing the simulation output to address fundamental questions about the processes governing ocean mixed-layer dynamics and their parameterizations.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: PhD in geosciences, statistics, physics, engineering, or a related field at the time of the appointment; PREFERRED: Strong background in fluid dynamics, turbulence, and/or oceanography; or experience working with numerical simulations, large data, scientific programming, and/or machine learning.
Applicants are asked to send a CV, a brief statement of research interests, and the names of three references to abodner@mit.edu with "Postdoc Job" in the subject line.
Prospective applicants may contact Professor Bodner (abodner@mit.edu) with any questions regarding the nature of the research to be conducted. Due to large email volume responses may be delayed.
