Position Description

The nature of equilibrium fluctuations of ions, atoms, and electrons on pico- to attosecond timescales determines their dissipative properties and the ultimate limitations on device efficiencies. We are building an experimental system to probe these fluctuations in real time.

We invite applications from postdoctoral candidates interested in this problem and who are equipped to address challenges surrounding the construction of such an experimental toolkit, including:

• Ultrafast optics
• Spatial resolution techniques
• Statistical data analysis

Basic Qualifications

• PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with relevant skillsets
• Expertise in digital signal processing, nonlinear optics, local probe microscopy (STM), statistical physics, and high-throughput programming is particularly sought

Additional Qualifications

• Strong grasp of mathematics
• Experience building experimental setups

Salary Range

$67,600 – $80,000
Pay will be determined based on experience, training, qualifications, field of scholarship, and accomplishments.
