Salary Range: Up to $68,000/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary
The Postdoctoral Fellow assists in the planning and direction of research and to perform advanced scientific duties requiring special qualifications. Latitude for independent action and decision expected. This role is responsible for assisting with the direction of a research program; evaluation, long-term planning, design, implementation, performance, analysis and interpretation of a scientific research project; and for performing complex research assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. This is a grant-funded position dependent on availability of funds and/or departmental need.
Core Responsibilities
- Analyzes data from the US Health and Retirement Study, the Mexican Health and Aging Study, and/or ancillary datasets merged with these as needed.
- Participates in research planning and manuscript writing.
- Presents research findings at national or international conferences.
- Collaborates with other project collaborators and help organize meetings and collaborations with them, including collaboration space.
- Works with project specialists and University administrators as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Demography, Sociology, or related Social Science, or in Social Gerontology, Social Epidemiology, or related Health Science.
- Strong background in project-relevant topics, such as immigration, aging, Mexico, and/or health disparities.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year of postdoctoral experience.
- Knowledge of Stata, but SAS and/or R are also acceptable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High proficiency in the handling and analysis of longitudinal data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Working Conditions
- Usual laboratory and office conditions.
- Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events.
- After hours and weekend work is required on an occasional basis.
- Occasional after hours and weekend work or overtime may be required
Physical Demands
- Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary, if walking and standing are required, only occasionally.
- Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasional
This position will work both on campus and remotely in Texas. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
