Postdoctoral Research Associate - School of Public Health

Position Summary

We seek an energetic individual with doctoral-level academic training in Environmental Epidemiology, Environmental Psychology, or related disciplines who has experience and interest in studying the interrelationships between environmental chemical mixtures during pregnancy and adversities and resilience factors in the context of long-term depression in mothers and neurodevelopmental and mental health outcomes in children. This individual will have the opportunity to work with data from the Maternal and Developmental Risks from Environmental and Social Stressors (MADRES) cohort that enrolled over 1000 pregnant women in Los Angeles, CA. This position will involve analyzing complex epidemiologic datasets (including coordinating data and biological samples for analysis at collaborating laboratories and QC’ing raw laboratory data), interpretating findings, and contributing to manuscript writing and grant proposal writing for new interdisciplinary research studies.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with the founding directors of the MADRES cohort now at the new WashU School Public Health (in St. Louis, MO) and to be a part of the School of Public Health’s development and future. The opportunity for involvement with the School’s Innovation Research Networks (IRNs), which are at the heart of the School’s research mission, is a key unique feature of this position. The primary goal of the Planetary/Environmental Health IRN is to understand how changes to the environment affect human health, and find sustainable ways for people to live healthier lives while maintaining the health of the planet that supports us all. There is also the opportunity to contribute to new and emerging cross university research initiatives, including work in collaboration with the University-wide Center for the Environment as well as interdisciplinary projects with the WashU School of Medicine.

Onsite preferred, but remote or hybrid position is possible.
