Postdoctoral fellows
Job Details
The National Institute on Aging, a major research component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is recruiting one postdoctoral fellow to join the Laboratory of Genetics and Genomics, Intramural Research Program (IRP), with a background in any of the following areas: RNA biology, neuroscience, epigenetics, chromatin, genomics, and mouse or Drosophila models. The main project is to study a newly identified DNA/RNA dual-activity TOP3B topoisomerase complex that is crucial for regulating transcription and translation during neurodevelopment and preventing mental disorders, including schizophrenia, autism, and cognitive dysfunction (Xu et al., Nat. Neuroscience, 2013; Joo et al., Nat. Comm.2020; Su et al., NAR 2022; Lee et al., Cell Reports 2025). The complex also plays critical roles in stress response pathways and maintaining normal aging (Su et al., NAR 2023), and is a drug target for RNA viruses (Zhang et al., JBC 2025). Other projects include purification of multi-protein complexes, and analysis of their structures and functions in the response to DNA damage response and in diseases arising from genomic instability (Yan et al., Mol. Cell, 2010; Yan et al., Mol. Cell 2012; Xu et al., Genes & Dev. 2008; Meetei et al., Nat. Genet. 2003) (https://irp.nih.gov/pi/weidong-wang).
Successful applicants should have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent, and no more than five years of postdoctoral research experience. Salary is commensurate with research experience and accomplishments. Applicants should send their curriculum vitae and the names of three references via email to Dr. Weidong Wang, wangw@grc.nia.nih.gov.
