Activities and context: The fellow will work on the development and evaluation of new materials and coatings for plastic and/or cellulosic packaging, with a focus on reducing environmental impact. Bio-based polymers, simplified structures, and design for recycling solutions will be investigated, aiming to combine circularity and performance. Activities will include material characterization and the evaluation of barrier properties and other performance requirements relevant to different packaging applications.
Mandatory requirements: Candidates must hold a PhD in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, obtained within the past seven years. Experience in statistical data analysis, scientific publications, and/or participation in research and innovation projects. Candidates should have strong skills in experimental planning, data analysis and interpretation, and scientific and technical writing. Good written and spoken English proficiency is required.
Desirable requirements: Experience in the development and characterization of packaging materials; knowledge of polymers, cellulosic materials, coatings, or biopolymers; experience in testing barrier, mechanical, and/or physicochemical properties; knowledge of recycling, circularity, and design for recycling; experience in statistical data analysis; scientific publications and/or participation in research and innovation projects.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 12,570.00 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
