Postdoctoral Fellowship: Satellite Image Fusion Using AI

ESTIA is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in Satellite Image Fusion Using AI. The position is based at ESTIA Campus, Technopole Izarbel, Bidart, France.

The Fuse – Polarisat project, supported by BPI France, collaborates with Satlantis to develop high-resolution Earth observation images for applications like aerosol and methane leak detection. It leverages light polarization for enhanced contrast and chemical detection, integrating iSIM optical technology with AI/data fusion methods for real-time, meter-level precision in methane detection.

Research Objectives

The candidate will join the ESTIA-Recherche laboratory, affiliated with the University of Bordeaux. The role involves developing algorithms for multispectral, hyperspectral, and polarimetric images to enhance detection accuracy. Research will integrate physical constraints into deep learning models and use physics-informed machine learning to fuse data. Work will be performed on a dedicated computing cluster at ESTIA for environmental monitoring applications like methane detection.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement advanced AI algorithms for satellite image fusion
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and execute research projects
• Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present at scientific conferences
• Deliver courses and practical sessions in Computer Science at ESTIA (80h/year)

Required Skills

Candidates must have completed a PhD in AI or image processing, with experience in AI models, image processing, and fusion. A background in physics, optics, and electromagnetics, including light polarization, is required. Programming skills in Python, JavaScript, or C++ are necessary.
