Position Overview

Cornell University Department of Computer Science (CS) invites applications for Teaching Professors at the Assistant, Associate, or Full level on the Ithaca campus. Teaching Professors are non-tenure track faculty members with multi-year appointments, with expectations of renewal and promotion.

Candidates should hold a PhD in a computing-related field and demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and innovation. We are seeking individuals who can teach large lower- and upper-level undergraduate and master’s courses in AI-related fields. Experience with online or distance learning is valued.

A full-time (100% effort) Teaching Professor typically teaches two courses per semester, where teaching and managing the course staff of large required undergraduate courses counts as two courses.

Responsibilities

• Teaching lower- and upper-level undergraduate and master’s level courses
• Managing course staff for large courses
• Curriculum design and innovation
• Advising undergraduate and M.Eng. student projects
• Mentoring Ph.D. students interested in teaching careers
• Participating in departmental governance and decision-making
• Collaborating with faculty and students in a stimulating academic environment

Location

Cornell University is located in Ithaca, NY (population ~100,000) in the Finger Lakes region. The area offers cultural activities, sports, outdoor recreation, and the combined pleasures of city and country living.

Salary

• Range: $58,300 – $237,300
