Workplace

  • Division of Secured and Networked Systems, Department of Electrical and Information Technology, Faculty of Engineering (LTH)
  • Focus: Cryptography, Computer Security, Wireless and Fixed Networks
  • Security group: ~20 members
  • Research directions: Cryptography, Privacy, and System Security for Connected Systems

Collaboration: Department of Computer Science, focusing on software engineering and AI, with ~15 members.

Position Description

The doctoral student position is part of Cybercampus Sweden and the LTH research center NextG2Com.

Research focus:

  • Intersection of Cybersecurity and Software Engineering
  • Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA) for AI-based and AI-driven software development
  • Extend TARA practices to meet regulatory frameworks (e.g., EU AI Act)
  • Automating TARA analysis for AI applications and AI-based software development
  • Case study and experimental-driven research

Work duties:

  • Devote primarily to doctoral research, courses, seminars, and conferences
  • Contribute to research projects and teaching (up to 20% of working hours)
  • Collaborate with Cybercampus offices in Stockholm and other Swedish doctoral students

Qualifications

General admission requirements:

  • Second-cycle (Master’s) degree or equivalent (240 ECTS, 60 in second cycle)

Specific requirements for Electrical Engineering:

  • MSc or 60 credits in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Mathematics, Nanoengineering, Engineering Physics, or Information and Communication Engineering

Additional requirements:

  • Strong software development skills
  • Experience with complex computer and communication systems
  • Ability to work independently and formulate research problems
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Ability to cooperate effectively
  • Must meet Cybercampus security eligibility

Preferred qualifications:

  • Courses or thesis in Computer Security or Cryptology
  • Documented software engineering and AI skills
  • Teaching and communication skills
  • Industrial experience
