Carnegie Mellon University’s department of Mechanical Engineering is searching for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. In this role, you will contribute to advancing our understanding of placental development through the integration of computational modeling and clinical imaging data within the Biomedical Flows Simulation and Multiscale Modeling (BioSiMM) Lab.
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and apply computational models of uterine vascular growth and remodeling (G&R).
- Integrate Doppler ultrasound data with hemodynamic simulations to test hypotheses related to uterine vascular adaptation.
- Develop data-driven models to characterize the relationship between abnormal uterine artery flow waveforms and adverse placental outcomes.
- Communicate research findings through conference presentations and peer-reviewed journal publications.

Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree required in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Applied & Computational Mathematics, or a related field
- 0-1 Years of experience
- Strong background in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), cardiovascular modeling, or biomechanical growth and remodeling.
- Demonstrated experience with numerical methods (e.g., finite element method), programming languages (C++, Python), and data analysis.
- Familiarity with ultrasound imaging and medical signal analysis is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
