The Language Technologies Institute (LTI) at Carnegie Mellon University is a world-renowned research and education hub at the forefront of natural language processing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction. Established within the School of Computer Science, LTI pioneers innovative approaches to understanding, processing, and generating human language in both written and spoken forms.
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to perform work in the field of far-field speech processing. This position focuses on developing machine learning frameworks that enable robots to navigate complex human environments, and build longitudinal relationships which require personalization.
Core Responsibilities:
- Modeling of social interaction
- Research and design multi-modal foundation models to enhance robot autonomy, social perception and collaborative decision making
- Design and build machine learning algorithms and frameworks for robots to follow
- Research evaluation methods
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Computer Engineer or a related field.
- Strong background in machine learning and machine learning frameworks
- Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks
- A combination of education and meaningful experience from which comparable knowledge is proven may be considered.
