Postdoctoral Research Associate, Project StoryMachine
Postdoctoral Research Associate, Project StoryMachine
The University of London, School of Advanced Study, is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate for the Project StoryMachine, a major international research project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council in the UK and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft in Germany. The project aims to preserve, explore, and provide greater access to folklore traditions in Germany and the UK through a novel digital infrastructure.
Folklore is essential for identity construction and cultural understanding, but it faces archival and cultural challenges. The research will generate new insights into the relationships between folklore and identity by investigating differences and commonalities in storytelling among participants from various geographic regions, cultural backgrounds, and age groups.
The role involves delivering the project’s academic, community-facing, and public engagement activities, including focus groups and workshops. Responsibilities also include managing social media and other digital communications, and contributing to other project work packages.
This is a 24-month fixed-term contract, working 17.5 hours per week.
For further information, the University operates a Hybrid Working framework, allowing up to 60% remote work, role dependent.
The University of London is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion, particularly encouraging applications from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities.
