University Practitioner in Speech and Language Therapy
University Practitioner in Speech and Language Therapy
We are seeking Speech and Language Therapists to join the Department of Allied Health Professions, Sport and Exercise, as a University Practitioner. These are part-time posts (up to 0.8 FTE), enabling the successful applicant to inspire learning for undergraduate students alongside their Speech and Language Therapist practice.
The University of Huddersfield has excellent facilities, which continue to expand with state-of-the-art teaching, research, and clinical facilities in the National Health Innovation Campus. We have a diverse student body and work closely with our public partnership group and education partners.
Huddersfield is close to beautiful countryside, with excellent road and rail links to Manchester, Leeds, and Sheffield. In 2023, the University achieved the TEF Gold award.
This role is open to Speech and Language Therapists interested in educating the future workforce to meet the challenges of service users and service needs. You may also support practice-based learning through innovations such as an on-site student-led speech and language clinic.
You will be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Speech and Language Therapist and have a relevant master's degree (or be able to complete this within 12 months of commencement). Qualified therapists who have commenced and can complete a Level 7 qualification within 12 months of commencement will be considered. You will be a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy or be willing to work towards this within 12 months of appointment.
We particularly welcome applications from practitioners experienced in working with adults with acquired and/or progressive conditions and/or children and young people with speech, language, and communication needs. You will bring experience of training or teaching speech and language therapy within a clinical or higher education setting. Other practice may be through paid employment with another employer, paid consultancy, or freelance work.
This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. Regular status checks may also be required, depending on your role.
