About the Role

A fully funded Postdoctoral Research Assistant position is available to join Dr Pedro Monteiro team to study the role of plasma membrane dynamics in cancer. The successful applicant will be involved in an exciting and ambitious project aiming at understanding how invading cancer cells adapt to changes in their local environment. Our laboratory uses various approaches including 2D/3D culture models and cell imaging to decipher mechanisms contributing to cancer cell invasion. We offer a vibrant and creative multidisciplinary environment, and the successful candidate will be supported to develop their scientific career and have an impact in the cell invasion and cancer fields. About You

Our team is looking for a talented and highly motivated scientist who has already obtained a PhD (or is close to completion) in a relevant biological subject. Significant research laboratory experience in cell and molecular biology, tissue culture and microscopy are essential. Knowledge/experience in cell invasion and plasma membrane fields is essential. The post holder must be organised, have good communication and interpersonal skills. They will need to manage their time, performance and be able to solve complex problems.

The Barts Cancer Institute (BCI) is a Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Centre of Excellence whose work aims to transform the lives of those with and at risk of cancer through innovative research in the laboratory, in patients and in populations. BCI is one of six institutes within The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FMD) and is internationally renowned in many areas of cancer research by combining ground-breaking basic research with the expertise of clinicians and clinician scientists to achieve improvements in cancer patient care. BCI is also a partner in the CRUK City of London Major Centre (together with UCL, Kings and the Francis Crick Institute) which is a Centre of Excellence in Biotherapeutics.
