Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Advanced Dynamics and Control Laboratory, College of Engineering
The Advanced Dynamics and Control Laboratory in the College of Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the area of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC). The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research focused on intelligent and adaptive flight control systems, path planning under uncertainty, and machine-learning-enhanced autonomy for Advanced Air Mobility. The anticipated start date is Fall 2025 or Spring 2026.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting advanced research in GNC with applications to aerospace systems
- Designing, implementing, and testing control algorithms in simulation and hardware platforms
- Contributing to publications and reports; presenting research findings at conferences
- Collaborating with faculty, graduate students, and external partners
- Supporting laboratory activities, including flight testing and system integration
Required Education and Qualifications: Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, or a closely related field by the start date. Strong foundation in at least one of the following areas: Adaptive control theory, Guidance and path planning, Machine learning for control or estimation. Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with real-time embedded systems, Background in AI-control frameworks, Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and Python, Flight testing and instrumentation.
