Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Translational Immunology Development Unit (TIDU), Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, John Radcliffe Hospital

THIS IS A RE ADVERTISMENT PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED NOT APPLY

About the Role

You are invited to apply to join Professor Lars Fugger and a multidisciplinary research team at the MRC Translational Discovery Immunology Unit, based at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. You will join research scientists, computational biologists, and clinicians, have access to state-of-the-art technologies and collaborate with leading researchers both locally and internationally.

This research project aims to explore the role of immune cells in autoimmune, demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system, with an emphasis on patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). Using innovative laboratory and analytical techniques, this research aims to expose new disease-associated immune cell populations that explain why environmental context is critical to disease cause and to explore how the immune system contributes to disease progression. Together, our research aims to be clinically translatable and to support drug development.

About You

You must hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD in Immunology. Previous experience in MS research is not required, but experience with immune cell-based assays is essential. You should be highly motivated and have the ability to develop new ideas and research objectives.

If you would like to discuss your application informally before applying, please email Professor Fugger (lars.fugger@imm.ox.ac.uk).
