Postdoctoral Researcher for Dr. Kopchick - Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine
Position Summary
The Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute for Molecular Medicine and Aging (IMMA) focuses on conducting research in molecular endocrinology, focusing on growth hormone action in diabetes, obesity, cancer, and aging. The primary responsibility of the candidate is to conduct experiments supporting this research focus. An overarching goal of the research is to directly develop intellectual property in collaboration with academic collaborators across these projects. This position will be required to actively generate data, present the data at internal group meetings, and externally at national and international meetings, representing IMMA and Ohio University and the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. Additional responsibilities include leading research projects with minimal supervision, writing and submitting manuscripts, preparing and presenting research at conferences, developing grant proposals for federal and private funding opportunities, acquiring research funding, and assisting with the training of undergraduate & graduate students and laboratory technicians. This is a one-year term position with the possibility of extension for up to three years.
Position Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct research projects in molecular endocrinology, with a focus on growth hormone action in diabetes, obesity, cancer, and aging. Collect and analyze data, maintain accurate records of research findings, and provide analysis of data results.
- Analyze and summarize experimental results, prepare manuscripts and presentations for publication, and present findings at professional meetings.
- Write research grant proposals to secure federal and private funding and prepare patent applications.
- Work collaboratively with research staff, faculty, and mentor graduate and undergraduate students. Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent in Molecular/Cellular Biology, Biology, Biomedical Sciences + ABD applications will be accepted
- Knowledge of state-of-the-art protocols involving analysis of DNA, RNA, and proteins
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the field of molecular biology (DNA, RNA, Protein) and/or translational biomedical sciences. Working knowledge of various bioinformatic 'tools' is preferred
Pay Rate
The approved salary range for this position is $48,000 to $50,000. Pay is commensurate with the candidate's education and experience in relation to the minimum qualifications for the position.
