Postdoctoral researcher in AI for Science in M2LInES - Generative Models for Dynamical Systems (NYU Courant Institute School)
M2LInES is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at NYU Courant Institute School of Mathematics, Computing, and Data Science. In collaboration with Profs Carlos Fernandez-Granda, Joan Bruna, Laure Zanna, the successful candidate will focus on developing generative machine learning models for complex dynamical systems for probabilistic forecasts.
The postdoc will be expected to lead independent research directions while collaborating with a team composed of domain scientists, experts in climate physics and modeling, and AI, as part of the international project, M2LInES https://m2lines.github.io.
The position, available immediately, is a full-time appointment, initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal for 2 years, subject to satisfactory performance and available funding.
In compliance with NYU's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $62,500 - $94,000. NYU considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer quality, as well as market and organization considerations.
Qualifications:
- Education: Ph.D. in machine learning, computer science, engineering, physical science or related technical discipline.
- Experience:
- Expertise in developing and training AI models
- Proficiency in Python
- Experience with HPC (GPUs preferred)
- Related Skills and Other Requirements
- Ability to work at the interface of AI and science/engineering problems
- Ability to lead, develop, and contribute to multiple projects in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team;
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills
- Technical and scientific curiosity
- A solid record of relevant publications and software appropriate to their career stage
