Postdoctoral Researcher

Position Summary

A postdoctoral research position is available in the group of Dr. Camelia Prodan in the Department of Physics at Fordham University's Rose Hill campus.

This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal for an additional year, contingent on performance and funding availability.

The successful candidate will conduct research on Classical Nonlinear and Quantum Correlated Regimes and/or Fractal and Hyperbolic Systems. Working closely with the Principal Investigator (PI), the postdoctoral researcher will plan and execute independent research projects, perform simulations and experiments, publish results, present at conferences and workshops, and contribute to the development of new methodologies. The researcher will also assist the PI in mentoring and directing the work of junior research staff.

This position reports directly to the PI.

Essential Functions

  • Meets project milestones and deliverables in a timely and precise manner.
  • Conducts high-quality independent research under the guidance of the PI.
  • Prepares, submits, and publishes scientific papers regularly (with a target of at least two submissions per year).
  • Writes progress reports for funding agencies.
  • Actively participates in group meetings and collaborates with team members on project-related activities.
  • Designs, develops, and performs experimental and computational analyses.
  • Works with and supervises junior research staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering, or a closely related field at the time of appointment.
  • Strong background in one or more of the following areas: topological materials, nonlinear dynamics, quantum systems, or complex geometries (fractal/hyperbolic systems).
  • Experience with computational modeling and simulation (e.g., COMSOL Multiphysics, MATLAB, Python, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with experimental techniques in condensed matter, metamaterials, or related fields is highly desirable.

Minimum Salary: $63,000
Maximum Salary: $63,000
