Principal Learning Designer
About This Opportunity
Two exciting fixed‑term opportunities are now available to join The University of Queensland as a Principal Learning Designer, where you’ll work with a high level of autonomy to help shape inclusive, student‑centred teaching and learning.
Based within the Institute for Teaching and Learning Innovation (ITaLI), you’ll work in partnership with academics, professional staff and Student Support and Wellbeing Services to embed inclusive, evidence‑informed practices into courses and programs. Your work will directly support the creation of learning environments where all students can thrive, with a strong focus on reducing barriers for students with a disability.
You’ll be welcomed into a reasonably new and close-knit team, where you can help establish strong ways of working and contribute to inclusive, high‑impact outcomes across UQ.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Champion Universal Design for Learning (UDL) by embedding inclusive, barrier‑reducing principles into curriculum, pedagogy and assessment that improve outcomes for all students
- Design and deliver inclusive learning experiences by creating, evaluating and advising on accessible teaching, learning and assessment practices grounded in contemporary pedagogy
- Create high‑quality, accessible learning resources that align with UDL principles and accessibility standards, enabling consistent, inclusive practice across the University
- Collaborate and influence by partnering with faculties, ITaLI, Student Support and Wellbeing Services and other stakeholders to strengthen inclusive teaching and learning across UQ
About You
- A relevant degree with at least four years’ subsequent experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in learning design or inclusive education
- Demonstrated expertise in designing inclusive approaches to teaching, learning and assessment, informed by contemporary pedagogy and an understanding of how students learn in higher education
- Proven ability to provide leadership and practical support for inclusive curriculum and assessment practices with diverse stakeholders
- Experience designing and facilitating professional learning and developing high‑quality, accessible learning resources
- Strong relationship‑building skills and a client‑focused, collaborative approach
- The ability to work autonomously, adapt to change and contribute effectively within a supportive team environment

Full-time - x2 fixed-term positions for up to 3 years with Base salary in the range of $104,616 - $113,920 + 17% super (HEW Level 7). Based at our Vibrant St Lucia Campus.
