About This Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary and collaborative Principal Learning Designer to play a pivotal role in strengthening the quality and impact of ACIAR Learn’s digital and blended learning programs. Working within UQ International Development (UQID), and reporting to the ACIAR Learn Team Leader (internally known as a UQID Senior Manager), you will partner closely with academic staff, course convenors, program teams and regional stakeholders to design engaging, inclusive and accessible learning experiences that support capacity development across the Indo-Pacific. This role sits at the intersection of pedagogy, technology and international development, contributing to purposeful learning that creates change together.

- Collaborating with course convenors and subject matter experts to design, develop and refine high-quality online and blended learning content grounded in adult learning and human-centred design principles.
- Designing and developing engaging multimedia learning assets and interactive activities for delivery through the Acorn Learning Management System.
- Ensuring learning materials are culturally appropriate, inclusive and accessible, meeting WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards and optimised for low-bandwidth environments.
- Contributing to program development, monitoring, evaluation and continuous improvement through the use of learner feedback, MEL insights and project reporting.
About You
You are an experienced and inquisitive learning designer who thrives in complex, collaborative environments and is motivated by creating meaningful learning impact. You will bring:
- A tertiary qualification (degree), or an equivalent combination of relevant education and extensive professional experience in adult learning and instructional design.
- Demonstrated experience designing, developing and evaluating complex online and blended learning programs.
- Strong applied knowledge of instructional design theory, adult learning principles and learner-centred design approaches.
- Proven experience working with learning management systems and advising on digital learning standards, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
- The ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including academics, program teams and external partners, to co-design high-quality learning solutions.
- High-level organisational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and interdependent deliverables.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce clear, engaging and accessible learning content.
