As the Principal Research Development Coordinator, you’ll be the strategic partner and trusted advisor to researchers across the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law (BEL). Working closely with the Associate Dean (Research), Faculty Research Manager, and school-based research leaders, you’ll play a pivotal role in enhancing research development activities and driving external funding success.
You’ll provide expert guidance on funding opportunities, review and refine grant applications, coordinate training and development initiatives, and contribute to the Faculty’s research strategy. This is your opportunity to influence research outcomes that shape policy, business, and society.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Advising researchers on funding schemes, eligibility, and compliance.
- Reviewing and enhancing the quality and competitiveness of grant applications.
- Supporting internal and external grant processes, including budgeting and submission systems.
- Coordinating research development events and training.
- Managing research performance data and reporting systems.

About You
- An undergraduate degree with subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience in research development, research administration or business management environment; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Knowledge and experience of research funding policies and procedures in the higher education sector.
- Excellent written communication skills and effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated high-level analytical skills (including interpreting complex guidelines and procedures) and excellent attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of the use of a wide range of computer applications in a network environment (particularly Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CoPilot).
- Demonstrated experience in the development of strong external and internal relationships.
- Ability to maintain integrity, diplomacy, sensitivity and confidentiality in communications with a wide range of client groups.
- Ability to work both independently and within a flexible team environment.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise own workload and exercise initiative and judgement as appropriate, and work in a flexible and dynamic environment with competing priorities to meet deadlines.

Desirable
- Demonstrated experience reviewing research grant applications.
- Postgraduate degree.
