Professional-Track Faculty Lecturer in Health and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at UNCG

The Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at UNC Greensboro is hiring a professional-track faculty lecturer position in Health and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies starting in August 2026.

With 2.5 full-time faculty, a full-time Director, and 23 cross-appointed faculty, UNCG’s WGSS Program supports innovative teaching, research, and creative practice. We offer an undergraduate major, an undergraduate minor, a master’s degree program, and a Post-Baccalaureate graduate certificate.

UNCG is a Minority Serving Institution. UNCG and the Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies Program foster an environment of collaboration across departments and schools and support community-engaged research.

The successful candidate will have teaching experience and bring a creative approach to in-person and online pedagogy. They will be prepared to teach introductory and advanced undergraduate courses in gendered bodies and health, which serve both the WGSS Program and a newly developed interdisciplinary BA in Health, Medicine, and Society. They should also be prepared to teach Introduction to WGSS and/or Introduction to LGBTQI Studies. Minimum qualification is an MA in WGSS or a related field. Candidates who hold a PhD will have an opportunity to teach at the graduate level.

As an interdisciplinary program, WGSS invites applicants who work in critical health studies broadly construed. Areas of focus might include (but are not limited to) disability studies, health access and equity, social medicine, trans health studies, health sovereignty, decolonial approaches to medicine, and the environment and health. The position is for one academic year with the possibility of renewal.

Review of applications will begin January 15, 2026 and will continue until the position is filled.

Candidates will be asked to provide a letter of interest, Curriculum Vitae, Statement of teaching philosophy, sample syllabi, and contact information for 3 references.
