Beijing Normal - Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU) invites candidates for positions expected to be filled in September 2025.

Job Requirements

The Animation and Interactive Media Programme seeks candidates with expertise in areas such as 2D and 3D animation, digital arts, narrative media, history and theory of animation and interactive media, motion graphics, and VR and AR. Desirable skills include industry experience, sound design, and creative coding. The successful candidate will maintain a creative practice or research while teaching, managing, supervising, facilitating field trips, tutoring, and caring for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. or at least a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Game Design and/or Development. They should be qualified to teach UG and PG courses in areas such as digital painting and drawing, 3D modelling and animation, character design and animation, scene design, interactive media, storytelling and narratives. Knowledge and experience with 3D modelling software and games engines like Unity and Unreal Engine are required. Proficiency in English is essential, as it is the medium of instruction.

Academic rank will be determined based on experience and research accomplishments.

Qualifications/Education

Essential

• Preferably a PhD in Animation, Game Design, or Computer Science
• At least an MFA in Animation, Interactive Media, or Game Design

Desirable

• Membership of relevant professional bodies
• Postgraduate qualification in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education or equivalent

Skills/Training

Essential

• Ability to teach 3D Modelling, 3D Animation, Scenery Design, Character Design, Motion Graphics, VR & AR, Animation Storytelling, Animation History, Drawing Fundamentals, Sculpting Fundamentals

Desirable

• Proficient in designing tools: Unity, Blender, Processing, Maya, Unreal Engine, TouchDesigner, Houdini
• Proficient in programming languages: C#, Python, JavaScript

Experience

Essential

• Preferably three years of teaching experience in higher education institutions
• Experience in course/program/curriculum design/development

Desirable

• Proven experience in management and administration
• Evidence of working with external institutions (industry or academia)
• Sustained PhD completions

Language Skills

Essential

• Proficient in English

Desirable

• Proficient in Mandarin Chinese

Benefits and Appointment Terms

Commencing salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Fringe benefits include housing allowance, leave, and social insurance. Appointments will be on a fixed-term contract with mutual agreement.
