This is a landmark appointment for RMIT. As Director, Digital Research Infrastructure, you will be appointed as a Professor and lead the delivery of RMIT's Digital Research Infrastructure (DRI) — a central pillar of the Horizon 2 Knowledge with Action strategy. You will shape the platforms, partnerships, and culture that power research across RMIT's three Colleges, driving national reputation and real-world research impact.
You will set strategic direction, attract external funding, build teams, and establish RMIT as a leader in digital research infrastructure nationally and internationally.
About You
To be successful in this position, you'll have:
An established academic profile and research leadership in digital research infrastructure or digital technologies, with a mandatory PhD or equivalent
Extensive expertise across cloud computing, HPC, research data management, and cybersecurity
A demonstrated ability to develop and lead nationally significant digital research infrastructure initiatives and attract external funding
Proven success building governance frameworks for digital platforms and research data security
Strong stakeholder engagement skills — working across researchers, IT, industry, and government funding bodies
The strategic acumen to align DRI planning to institutional research priorities and sector trends
Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
About the Group
Research Infrastructure is a Horizon 2 Signature Initiative within RMIT's Knowledge with Action strategy. The DRI initiative spans five pillars — Data, Compute, Software, Capability, and Emerging Technologies — and builds on existing foundations including RACE (RMIT Advanced Compute Ecosystem) and NCI.
