PROFESSOR OF PRACTICE (Non-Tenure-Track) SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY, THEATER MANAGEMENT/B.S.
The Department of Drama, within the College of Visual and Performing Arts, a highly ranked BFA program uniquely integrated with a major regional theater, seeks to hire a Professor of Practice with primary expertise in theater management. The department seeks a visionary leader who will guide the reimagining of this successful and highly flexible program to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving field. Additional expertise in areas such as organizational development/communication, commercial producing, or stage management is highly desirable. Core responsibilities: teach courses at all levels within the curriculum and serve as academic and creative advisor to program students. The preferred candidate will bring diverse perspectives to their pedagogy and will help the department to build a community of individuals from different backgrounds and walks of life. Preference given to those candidates with advanced degrees. This is a three-year position, beginning Fall 2026.

Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree required.
- Demonstrated significant experience in their field and a reputation that will enable them serve as an effective conduit between the department, its students, and the profession.
Job Specific Qualifications
- Demonstrated teaching excellence.
- Ability and willingness to collaborate with faculty in all programs (Acting, Musical Theater, Theater Design and Technology, Stage Management) in the ongoing life of a top-quality pre-professional training program.
Responsibilities
- Teach a variety of courses at all levels as assigned by the Chair and based upon expertise.
- Work with faculty to further develop a comprehensive and professionally informed curriculum in theater management and related areas.
- Serve as both an academic and creative advisor to students, guiding them in the creation and realization of professional quality work in accordance with current emerging best professional practices.
- Engage in continued professional creative work and/or research.
- Participate in service and committee work for Department, College of Visual and Performing Arts, and Syracuse University.
