Responsibilities
The Professor (Research Track) in the School of Arts and Humanities will provide visionary leadership and foster research excellence, actively contributing to the advancement of applied social sciences (especially in gerontology, psychology, social work) at both national and international levels. Responsibilities include leading and maintaining an innovative, independent, and collaborative research program with high-impact outcomes and external recognition; securing and managing significant external research funding; and publishing regularly in internationally recognized, high-impact journals while disseminating findings to the wider academic and professional community. The successful candidate will mentor and supervise postgraduate research students and early-career researchers, fostering a dynamic, inclusive research culture. Additionally, the professor will establish and support interdisciplinary and cross-institutional research collaborations locally and globally, contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement of the School and College’s research agenda, provide academic leadership to colleagues while promoting research ethics and scholarly excellence, and engage actively in professional organizations, representing the School in relevant academic, clinical, and community networks.
Requirements
- Possession of a doctoral degree in social sciences (especially in gerontology, psychology, social work) or a closely related discipline, preferably a PhD.
- Demonstrated substantial experience in leadership roles within the tertiary education sector or in professional organizations.
- Evidence of continued publication in reputable, high-impact, internationally recognized journals within the relevant discipline, with an active research profile.
- Established research expertise in applied social sciences or a related field, with a proven record of obtaining and managing external research grants in recent years.
- Documented experience in successful supervision of post-graduate students.
