Professorship (W3) for Sociology with a Focus on Women's and Gender Studies

Goethe University Frankfurt am Main invites applications for the position of: Professorship (W3) for Sociology with a Focus on Women’s and Gender Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences. The civil servant or public employee position will start as soon as possible. The successful candidate will have a strong international reputation in the field of feminist social theory and will represent a theoretically and empirically sound sociology of gender relations in research and teaching. Willingness to take on a leading role at the Cornelia Goethe Centrum is expected. Existing collaborations - such as with the Sigmund Freud Institute, the Institute for Social Research - will be built upon and should be intensified. Based on extensive teaching experiences, we expect a high level of teaching commitment (also in English) in all degree programs of the Faculty, especially in the BA minor Gender Studies. Goethe University has set itself the goal of further internationalizing the study program and teaching, so that participation in the internationalization of curricula and courses is expected. The professorship is also involved in teacher training; thus didactical experience and concepts are also welcome. Outstanding experiences in the acquisition of third-party funded projects is a prerequisite for the position. Experience in working in the context of cooperative research (e.g. SFB, Research Training Groups) is desirable. The successful candidate will be required to participate in the academic self-administration. In addition to the general provisions of employment law, the prerequisite for an appointment as professor are further academic achievements after the doctorate (e.g., habilitation, habilitation equivalent). The formal hiring requirements are defined in sections 67 and 68 of the Hessian Higher Education Act (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz). Goethe University is an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity and inclusion. In particular, we are welcoming applications by qualified women, people of color and people with a migrant background. At Goethe University, a special emphasis is placed on creating and sustaining a family-friendly work and research environment. Where applicants are otherwise equally qualified, preference is given to candidates with disabilities or equivalent. The same applies to women in fields in which they are under-represented. To apply, please send a CV, a list of publications, an overview of your research and teaching activities, a teaching and research concept as well as transcripts and a selection of recent course evaluations by 05.11.2025 online at https://berufungsportal.uni-frankfurt.de/.
