Program Assistant-Student Support Services
Position Summary: The program assistant will be a student advocate and campus resource liaison. This position provides clerical support for the program and plays a key role in recording events and data on students as required by the grant. The position is governed by the policies of the institution. Student Support Services is funded through the Department of Education. The position reports to Director of TRIO Student Support Services.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as first line of assistance, student advocate, and connect students with campus resources. (25%)
- Maintain files and APP contract on each program participant. (15%)
- Provide program information for inquiries about the program. (10%)
- Process reports and related information about the program. (10%)
- Design, implement, and present academic enrichment workshops and study skills handouts for participants. (10%)
- Maintain fiscal records and reports (5%)
- Implement and maintain the computerized program tracking system. (15%)
- Provide clerical support for program staff, including greeting and serving program participants. (5%)
Other Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Other duties as assigned. (5%)
Responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork. Requires consistent on-time attendance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
To perform the job successfully, the following competencies are required for the essential functions of this position:
- Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, oral, written, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of scheduling and basic computer applications.
- Ability to present material using verbal, visual, or written methods.
- Ability to problem solve and think critically.
- Self-starter, detail-oriented, and well organized.
Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Work Experience: Associate degree required. Minimum of one year of experience in education required.
Preferred Education and/or Work Experience: Three years of related experience preferred. Preference given to individuals who have overcome barriers similar to the target population.
Additional Information:
Working Relationships: Works with the Student Support Services staff and participants daily to achieve the academic goals of the participants.

Special Job Dimensions: Work performed primarily in an office setting. Hours vary depending on the participant need. Extended hours are occasionally required.
Background Check Requirements: Criminal background check; Arkansas Mandated Reporters training; and MVR (motor vehicle registry) required for this position.
