Job Summary
The Program Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of collaborative peer education programs (Supplemental Instruction, STARS) including coordinating program operational logistics and student service activities, as well as hiring, recruiting, training, supervising, and evaluating assigned student employees.
Core Responsibilities
- Implements daily program operations by coordinating logistics and service activities necessary for the effective implementation of a comprehensive student-centered collaborative peer education program.
- Provides coaching and guidance to peer educators in the creation of learning aids and study session plans that incorporate a wide variety of collaborative learning strategies.
- Supervises peer educators and peer leaders toward delivering outstanding student success services. Monitors SI/STARS session plans and provides timely feedback on learning strategies implemented in collaborative study sessions. Regularly conducts study session observations. Develops and implements leadership and skills development plans based on observed performance.
- Produces and distributes program materials using a variety of delivery methods to include social media and online platforms. Delivers presentations and coordinates marketing and communication activities that effectively promote learning support programming to students, faculty and other campus stakeholders.
- Engages in inter-departmental collaboration and campus partnerships toward promoting student success at UT San Antonio. Assists director with building and maintaining liaisons with faculty partners and a variety of campus stakeholders.
- Exercises effective resource stewardship by identifying, tracking and assigning various resources. Ensures that peer educators have the necessary resources to facilitate effective study sessions.
- Plans and facilitates pre-semester and weekly training meetings with SI leaders, Senior SI leaders (peer leaders), and/or tutors. Promotes the development of marketable skills and professional growth for student employees.
- Recruits and hires qualified peer educators in compliance with university and program policy. Demonstrates commitment to fair practices in program recruitment processes toward hiring outstanding student employees representative of the UT San Antonio campus community.
- In collaboration with the director, uses student success technology to monitor student engagement and academic progress to target outreach and program resources toward students demonstrating heightened need for academic support services.
- Ensures and maintains accurate data collection, maintains student confidentiality by securing all data collected, assists with data analysis.
- Assists in monitoring student employee wage budgets. Make monthly reports on expenditures and balances to director.
- Evaluates program activities and makes recommendations for changes, enhancements and process improvements toward promoting student academic success at UT San Antonio.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience can be substituted for education on a one-for-one basis
- Two (2) years of related experience working with university level students to plan and coordinate academic success activities and programs.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience can be substituted for education on a one-for-one basis
- Two (2) year of related experience with Supplemental Instruction, Tutoring, or other peer learning assistance programs.

Working Conditions
- On-Campus office environment.
- After hours and weekend work is required on an occasional basis.
Physical Demands
- Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary, - routinely.
- Walking and standing - occasionally.
- Typing/texting - routinely.
This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
