Position Highlights
The Department of Physiology is accepting applications for a Program Coordinator position, beginning January 2026. The selected candidate will work closely with faculty, academic advisors, staff and students to coordinate activities of the Physiology and Medical Sciences undergraduate program. The department is seeking an individual who has experience working with diverse groups of students, who has demonstrated teamwork, great organization skills, and experience with event planning. The Undergraduate Major in Physiology and Medical Sciences is one of the largest majors at the University of Arizona. Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with the administration and operation of the Physiology and Medical Sciences undergraduate program under the guidance of the Director and Associate Director, Senior Program Coordinator, faculty, academic advisors, and staff. Help schedule courses in line with RCS deadlines and communicate with the director and faculty about classroom arrangements. Ensure courses are scheduled without overlaps. Submit new courses for approval by the curriculum committee. Add new sections of independent study courses upon faculty request. Assist with submitting forms for independent study courses and late change petitions, coordinating with the Associate Director, faculty, and advisors for necessary approvals. Utilize UAccess Student and UAccess Analytics for required tasks.
- Assist the Senior Program Coordinator with enrolling students and verifying their eligibility for enrollment and graduation. Help submit course modifications and general petition forms. Provide support to faculty with exam printing and sorting for large courses. Collect Independent Study Applications. Provide general support for the undergraduate program.
- Collect data on student enrollment in PSIO didactic and independent study courses. Gather data on student performance in online and in-person courses. Collect senior survey data on student learning outcomes and satisfaction with the major. Assist with gathering data for graduations and honors convocations. Help create reports and complete special projects for the Director of the program. Use Excel and Qualtrics programs to manage and analyze data.
- Assist the Senior Program Coordinator with event planning and coordination for May and December graduation ceremonies, Honors Convocation, Physiology Poster Session, and other undergraduate program events. Help ensure all eligible students are included in events by coordinating with the advising team. Work with faculty for the poster session and fall festival to ensure correct students and courses are featured and updated. Assist in preparing event programs, student certificates, and name tags. Use PowerPoint and Publisher to create event materials.
- Assist with document preparation and scheduling. Help coordinate meetings and update the website. Maintain records, supply inventory, and assist with data entry. Support in creating and updating departmental files, databases, and reports. Serve as the Gittings building monitor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of university systems, policies, and department tools.
- Ability to receives direction and guidance from supervisor.
- Ability to participate in projects and tasks along with senior program coordinator, including event planning.
- Ability to assist faculty and other staff members with tasks related to the development and implementation of academic programs, curriculum, and course schedules.
- Ability to assist with gathering data for reports and develop and maintain record keeping systems.

Minimum Qualifications
- 1 year of relevant work experience required.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.

- Preferred experience of one year working at a higher education institution.
