Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is seeking applicants for a Program Coordinator position for the WWCC Correction Education program located at the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center (CRCC) in Connell, Washington.
This position is filled to fulfill a contract awarded to Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) by the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (WSBCTC) to operate a correctional education program at WSP in accordance with an interagency agreement with the Department of Corrections. Walla Walla Community College and its employees working in a correctional education program are expected to follow all Department of Corrections (DOC) Policies, IT and other Security requirements, follow DOC Operational Memorandums, and comply with the Superintendent's directions.

General Responsibilities
In line with the mission and goals of Walla Walla Community College, this position is responsible for encouraging students to continue life-long learning in preparing students for the 21st-century work. The Program Coordinator will ensure that student records are updated, registrations are processed on time. The Program Coordinator will work with students, program staff and various stakeholders in the interest of the corrections education program.
Essential Functions
General Office Duties
- Keep spreadsheet of student's absences.
- Print, review and assist students with ctcLink What if Reports.
- Work with computerized DOC Offender Management Network Information (OMNI) to check information.
- Build classes in OMNI to fill seats for classes offered at the CRCC & MSU Campus.
- Update Classroom Rosters - weekly.
- Distribute supplies as needed.
- Answer phones.
- Create special callouts for various reasons.
- Filing via our scan system.
- Assure cancelled classes are removed from callout and staff notified.
- Chrono information in OMNI.
- Special projects as assigned.
- Finding CAs for instructors as needed.
- Submit CA payroll monthly to DOC.
- Coordinate Study Lab schedule with Study Lab Attendant under direction of the Director.
- Register and admit GED testers.
- Administer GED test.
Maintain full capacity classes
- Maintain and prioritize wait list for Vocational programs. Ensure all open enrollment classes are fully enrolled on a weekly basis.
- Assign Vocational students to OMNI classes.
- Assign students weekly to open enrollment classes such as Carpentry, Welding and Digital Design
- Document student transfers and release date.
- Resolve issues as they arrive.
- Maintain quarterly admission and registration records.
- Check Transfer sheet daily to track students that need to be un-assigned from classes.
- Keep referrals updated and wait list accurate.
- Complete in OMNI when the student has completed a class. Notify counselors of completions.
- Print and send attendance sheets.
Book and Calculator inventory
- Entering new books into computer system.
- Placing scanning codes on each book.
- Checked in and out and returned.
- Make sure books/calculators are returned in timely manner.
- Cross train laptops.
Instructor/Counselor Support
- Assign textbooks to instructors and vocational students using the WASP program.
- Managing/organizing the book room, ensure there are adequate new student registration packets and new quarterly packets for instructors.
- Answer kiosk and emails from counselors.
- Request and check on information for instructors.
- Provide back-up support for completing student evaluations of instructors.
Orientation/Program Reviews
- Prepare all paperwork and intake forms for each incarcerated individuals that is scheduled for Orientation.
- Process after orientation.
- After program reviews change student assignments as requested by CPM.

Required Qualifications
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Two years of experience at an advanced level OR Equivalent education/experience.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications
- AA degree in related field
- Bilingual - English/Spanish
- Corrections work experience
Any combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the applicant with the knowledge and skills to perform the job may be considered by the college.
Conditions/Terms of Employment
This classified position is in a bargaining unit for which WPEA Higher Ed is the exclusive representative.
Standard business hours are 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a half-hour lunch break. Incumbent may be expected to occasionally adjust the work schedule to meet business needs. Some travel may be required for occasional training.
This position is located inside the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center, an adult male prison. Interacts daily with students (incarcerated individuals), instructors, counselors, DOC, and WWCC staff.
The college has an excellent benefit program including medical, dental, life and long-term disability insurance; paid sick leave; paid vacation leave; and retirement plan. All full-time employees will automatically have 3% of taxable income deferred into the State of Washington Deferred Compensation Program (DCP) unless declined at time of hire. WWCC requires all employees to participate in direct deposit for payment of salary. The College is a tobacco-free campus.
Persons hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of lawful authorization to work in the United States within three (3) days of employment and official college transcripts. WWCC participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. All Walla Walla Community College staff members employed at one of the Correction Education facilities must be cleared by an FBI background check before being hired into such positions and successfully complete a 3-week corrections training program. Information from the background check may not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.
Department of Correction positions are grant funded and funding is not guaranteed. Upon loss of grant funding, the position will end. WWCC does not absorb the cost to fund DOC grant positions.
