Position Highlights
Reporting to the Director for Native American Student Affairs (NASA), the Coordinator works closely with the Director for NASA and student staff to run a robust and vibrant student center. The Coordinator guides and advises students in designing programs that create a sense of belonging and offer opportunities for personal growth and identity development.
More specifically, the Coordinator reaches out to Native students, supports students who participate in NASA programs and services, and creates and implements leadership development programs. The Coordinator designs and implements programs that support and increase wellness and resilience, incorporating culturally affirming practices that acknowledge the challenges faced by Native and Indigenous students.
This is a temporary, part-time position. The duration of this assignment is over 90 days and less than 6 months, with an estimated end date of 05/24/2026.

Duties & Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Center, including front and back office operations and student, staff, and faculty inquiries.
- Recruit, hire, supervise, coach and/or support student employees, interns, volunteers and students who utilize the Native American Student Affairs (NASA) Center.
- Provide general support, advocacy, and referrals for individual students to campus resources including affiliated organizations and resources that support persistence and belonging. Serve as a contact point for the embedded counselor and students in crisis; and manage the crisis contact information for the center.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate all signature events, programs and trainings that integrate leadership development, intercultural competence opportunities, and coalition building (e.g. Convocation, Welcome and Open House events, Mental Health & Wellness programs, Heritage Month and Awareness Building Programs, Training Programs, and Living Learning Community Programs).
- Oversee event publicity, manage online calendar, manage social media, and update website. Oversee creation and dissemination of the weekly E-Newsletter that includes events and announcements from across the Tucson community.
- Coordinate outreach efforts to raise awareness of the various programs and resources available through NASA, including outreach to new students at Orientation, Wildcat Welcome, Graduate Student Orientation, and other UA-wide student events. Represent NASA and the IME department at outreach events as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge, sensitivity and understanding of the social, political, personal and cross-cultural needs, concerns and interests of Native American and Indigenous communities.
- Knowledge in program planning and implementation skills, student supervision, and advising abilities, and the knowledge of assessment and evaluation for and with various populations.
- Strong organizational skills, time management, and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to give and accept feedback and work collaboratively to develop programs.
- Knowledge and experience with social media.
- Effective communication skills (written, interpersonal, presentation, and listening) and ability to model and teach these skills to others.
- Ability to foster a collegial and collaborative work environment through effective outreach and partnerships across identity groups, and administrative levels (i.e., peers, faculty, and administration).

- Bachelor's degree.
