Program Coordinator - Running Start
As a member of the Running Start and College in the High School staff, this position is customer service focused, has extensive involvement with students, the public and high school personnel in order to support the operation of the Running Start and College in the High School programs. Under general supervision, this position performs work using knowledge and experience specific to Running Start, which serves over 2,400 students each quarter. Responsibilities include preparing for orientations and facilitating information sessions; assisting in the fee waiver and book loan program; tracking and processing of program-related paperwork; collaboration with outside offices; and support of program goals. This position serves as a first point of contact for those seeking information about the Running Start Program. Additionally, the program coordinator will help implement processes for College in the High School. The successful candidate will have exceptional written and oral communication and customer service skills and will be able to work independently to complete projects in a timely manner, as well as a desire to provide direct service to this population of students and the general public. It is critical to the success of this position and program to have exceptional attention to detail. This position is eligible for some hybrid work, primarily located in the Running Start Office on the main campus in Auburn, providing primary front office coverage to include in-person, phone, and Zoom lobby.
ABOUT THE COLLEGE:
Green River College's student body is made up of approximately 41% Academic Transfer students, 34% Professional-Technical students, 15% Adult Basic Education student, and 3% Applied Bachelor degrees. Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, Washington, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English, and Continuing Education students. Student Support
- Provide direct customer service through various formats including virtual, email, phone, and in-person, with excellent customer service skills focused on bringing racial equity and social justice lenses.
- Exhibit cultural responsiveness and a commitment to equity in all interactions with students, faculty, staff and community members to who span a diverse range of languages, nationalities and ethnicities, socio-economic levels, identities, and educational experiences.
- Communicate and build rapport with students, parents/guardians, and staff.
- Maintain calm in stressful situations that may be encountered in-person, over the phone or Zoom; work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Create and manage communications with students through email, text, and Navigate.
- Represent the College and Running Start program through public speaking/presentation events: prepare materials for and present to groups of students, parents, staff, and the public on information regarding the Running Start program. Audience size varies from approx. 10 to 350.
- Provide information and recommendations to students, staff, and the public regarding specific programs and policies.
Document Processing
- Fee Waiver and Book Loan program: process applications, determine eligibility, and assist in managing student accounts with the bookstore.
- Create, process and monitor electronic student files and forms.
- Manage thousands of files in Box, to include organization and tracking.
- Input data in ctcLink; follow up with high schools for clarity as needed.
- Communicate status of paperwork with students and inform of missing items.
- Use word processing, graphics, spreadsheet and/or database software (e.g. Microsoft Office, ctcLink/PeopleSoft).

Other Duties
- Attend meetings and/or conferences as a program representative.
- Direct the work of others.
- College in the High School: help implement processes such as registration, coding and tracking students and communicate regularly with college and high school faculty.
- Create and manage event and communication campaigns in Navigate.
- Manage and maintain content on our website for accurate and up-to-date information.
- Run queries to analyze and track student data.
- Perform related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- HS diploma and at least one year of exceptional customer service experience.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Teams, Bookings, and SharePoint), Zoom, and use of search engines.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Demonstrated experience, expertise, cultural competencies, and commitment to equity in working with general public, colleagues, staff, students, administrators and others from diverse backgrounds and identities, as well as those with disabilities in a courteous, respectful, inclusive, and professional manner.
- Ability to problem solve, multitask, prioritize and maintain excellent customer service while remaining flexible in a dynamic work environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Take initiative to ensure smooth operation of an office.
- Keen attention to detail with high degree of accuracy and experience in recordkeeping.
Preferred: Professional experience in a higher education setting and/or working in the K-12 system and/or working with high-school aged students and their parents/guardians.
