The Pharmacy Technician Program Director in collaboration with the Dean of Health Sciences provides the vision and leadership required to realize the mission of the Pharmacy Technician Program and the college at large. Primary administrative responsibilities include program development/management, budget development/management, maintaining programmatic accreditation/external partnerships, and providing operational supervision to full- and part-time faculty and staff in the department. Instructional responsibilities require a strong Pharmacy Technician skill set and the ability to teach students effectively in an instructional environment. The Program Director is a member of the full-time faculty and maintains a teaching load with some administrative release time to carry out administrative duties.

Education Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with an Associates degree in Pharmacy Technician or graduate degree in Pharmacy from an institutionally accredited college/university
- Nationally certified graduate of an accredited pharmacy technician program (American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP), Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or a licensed pharmacist
Education Preferred
Experience Required
- 5 years of experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacist
- Teaching and/or industry training experience in pharmacy technology topics in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars
- Supervisory experience to include employee evaluations
Experience Preferred
- Greater than 5 years of experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacist
- Post-secondary teaching experience
- Experience with ASHP / ACPE program accreditation standards
- Membership in a national pharmacy or education association and a state pharmacy association
- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes
- Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems
KSA Required
The Pharmacy Technician Program Director shall possess an understanding of and commitment to the nature and role of the Community College, particularly its “open door” policy. He/she shall have demonstrated personal and professional competence for the responsibilities assigned. The Program Director will have an understanding of the concept of a learning-centered, open admissions institution, community college philosophy, diversity issues, and instructional technology. The Program Director must be able to:
