Program Manager & Communications Coordinator - Extension Master Food Volunteer Program and Farmers and Ranchers Stress Assistance Network (FRSAN)
Essential Job Duties:
This position provides support to key NC State Extension programs, the Extension Master Food Volunteer (EMFV) program, and Farmers and Ranchers Stress Assistance Network (FRSAN).
Program Overviews
Extension Master Food Volunteer (EMFV) Program
The EMFV program equips local volunteers with the knowledge to support Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) agents in delivering nutrition education, cooking demonstrations, and food safety programming. A key component is the Donation Station model, which increases food access by collecting and distributing local produce from farmers’ markets to food-insecure populations.
Farmers and Ranchers Stress Assistance Network (FRSAN)
FRSAN is a grant-funded initiative dedicated to connecting farmers, ranchers, and agricultural workers to mental health resources and stress management support. The program focuses on creating a service provider network that offers culturally responsive resources to help the agricultural community navigate the unique stressors of their profession.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Management & Development (25%): Lead the statewide expansion of the EMFV and Donation Station programs, ensuring alignment with broader Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) objectives.
- Training & Capacity Building (15%): Train and support Extension agents in volunteer management, curriculum delivery, and the implementation of food security initiatives at the county level.
- Strategic Communications (25%): Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies to enhance the visibility and impact of grant-funded projects (FRSAN) and local food programs.
- Curriculum & Resource Creation (5%): Oversee the revision of core educational materials and develop new, culturally responsive resources.
- Stakeholder Engagement (15%): Act as a liaison between internal teams, partner organizations, and community sites
- Digital Content & Media Oversight (5%): Support online presence, produce digital newsletters, and coordinate media engagement to facilitate knowledge sharing across regional networks.
- Evaluation & Data Impact (5%): Oversee data collection and evaluation processes to document program effectiveness and report on key outcomes to stakeholders.
- Sustainability & Grant Support (5%): Identify funding opportunities and collaborate on grant proposals to secure resources for program growth and longevity.
Other Responsibilities:
- Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Relevant Bachelor’s and 3 or more years of relevant experience, or relevant independent experience and education
Other Required Qualifications:
- Experience with Family and Consumer Sciences program areas
- Experience with program development, management, and evaluation specific to county-based Extension
- Communication skills, including resource development and outreach specific to Extension
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience implementing Extension programming at the county level
Required License(s) or Certification(s):
- A valid Driver’s License and the ability to obtain an NC Driver’s License within 60 days of hire.
- A valid Driver’s License must be maintained throughout employment.
