The Opportunity

We are seeking a Program Manager, Financial Management Transformation to lead a University-wide initiative that will reshape how financial management is delivered at UniSC. This is a hands-on role, suited to someone with strong financial management expertise who can translate strategy into practical, effective solutions. You will lead the design and delivery of improved financial frameworks, systems, and processes, strengthening budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and resource allocation across the University. This role is your chance to work collaboratively across the University and with external partners, guiding change, managing risk, and ensuring measurable outcomes that boost financial capability and resilience. You will champion continuous improvement, foster an inclusive and safe workplace, and ensure that program outputs not only meet high standards but also support long-term growth and impact.

You will

  • lead a high-impact, university-wide financial management transformation program, delivering meaningful improvements to decision-making, governance and sustainability;
  • apply deep financial management expertise to redesign and embed frameworks across budgeting, forecasting, reporting and resource allocation;
  • drive organisation-wide change by building financial capability, influencing senior stakeholders, and embedding a culture of accountability and insight; and
  • oversee program planning, delivery, risk and performance, ensuring outcomes are achieved on time, within scope and aligned to strategic priorities

About you

Our ideal candidate brings strong, applied financial management experience and enjoys working at both a strategic and operational level. You’re confident guiding the end-to-end delivery of a University-wide financial transformation, shaping frameworks, systems, and processes that support smarter decision-making and long-term sustainability. You bring a collaborative, inclusive approach to stakeholder engagement, building strong relationships across the University and beyond, while guiding teams through change and boosting financial capability. You’ve likely led or contributed to finance transformation initiatives and understand what good financial management looks like in practice. You’re confident working with budgeting, forecasting, and financial data, and can translate this into meaningful insights and improvements.

You will possess:

  • Strong, hands-on financial management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting and financial analysis
  • Experience leading complex finance-related projects, guiding cross-functional teams, managing timelines and resources, and delivering outcomes across multiple stakeholders.
  • Familiarity in enterprise systems, ERP platforms, and advanced Excel.
  • Proven leadership and people management capabilities, including overseeing workflows, improving processes, and balancing competing priorities under pressure.
  • Excellent project and operational coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives while building collaborative relationships across the University and with external partners.
  • A track record of identifying and implementing process improvements that enhance efficiency, performance, and compliance.
  • Well-developed risk, issue, and change management skills, navigating complex environments to achieve program and organisational success.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, able to convey complex ideas clearly, influence stakeholders, and engage effectively at all levels.

Desirable

  • Membership with the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants or equivalent.
  • Project management certification, such as PRINCE2 or PMP.
  • Experience in the higher education sector and understanding of accountability and reporting requirements.
