Program Manager, Unit Development
The Program Manager, Unit Development is a key member of the Foundation Initiatives team and works as a strategic partner with the Chief Development Officer of the ASU Foundation. Responsibilities are focused on assisting in the management of daily workflow operations and with a wide range of strategic priorities aimed at advancing ASU through leveraging philanthropic resources. This position facilitates collaboration amongst various teams, supports the build-out and continuous improvement of team-facing functions and processes and manages a portfolio of duties as assigned.
What you'll do
- Manage the development, articulation and preparation of messages, presentations, reports, and special communications.
- Manage agendas for 1:1's with the ASU Foundation CEO and other university senior leadership, ensuring flow of work and next steps.
- Manage agendas for other recurring and stand-alone meetings related to unit development.
- Coordinate special projects, working closely with central support teams and development leadership.
- Proactively anticipate needs of leadership prior to meetings and deadlines.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you'll need
- Effective project management to ensure workflow, task completion, and necessary follow-up happens in a timely manner.
- Thoughtful planner and flexible implementer, able to translate ideas into actionable steps and iterate quickly based on changing dynamics.
- Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise, executive-ready materials.
- Highly skilled in tracking and ensuring success on a number of simultaneous projects.
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and establishing and facilitating the work of teams.
- Reflective leader who prioritizes after-action-review and continuous improvement for self, for the team, and for the program
- An ability to source, interpret and analyze both quantitative and qualitative data
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills, able to balance multiple issues in a fast-paced environment, with a high attention to detail and thoroughness in follow up and completing assigned tasks
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to Enterprise Partners, its subsidiaries and University business and confidential prospect information
- Accomplished oral and written communication skills, and effective presentation skills
- Ability to make independent judgements and coordinate office details in conjunction with policies and procedures
- Collaborative style coupled with an ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with little supervision
- Ability to routinely interact with individuals at all levels of ASU Foundation, Enterprise Partners, and the University.
- Strong ability to operate in a matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to represent the institution well and possess an advocate's belief in the vision of ASU as the New American University
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to manage fiscal operations and resource development
Relevant qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit leadership and management or other related field
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a project management role
Preferred education and experience
- Prior experience in higher education, philanthropy, nonprofit management or university advancement
Preferred skills and abilities
- Experience supporting executive-level leaders
- Experience with Salesforce or enterprise CRM systems
