Our goal is to advance industry 5.0 careers-first education and provide a clear path to the jobs and opportunities of the future. We’re committed to driving diversity in the 5.0 talent pipeline, working in partnership to promote talent wherever it is found and creating a balanced, inclusive, and green future.

But we can't achieve this goal alone. We need forward-thinking, innovative, and curious individuals like you to join our community and help us craft our future. As part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of people who share your passion for creating positive change. We’re an inclusive and welcoming community that is constantly moving forward, never satisfied with the status quo.

About Us

The University of East London is redefining the future of education. Now in Year 3 of our transformational Vision 2028 strategy, we are preparing our students and our staff for the opportunities of tomorrow. With one of the most diverse and vibrant communities in UK higher education, we are committed to creating a more sustainable, inclusive, and innovative future for everyone.

Our Projects & Estates Development (PED) team plays a pivotal role in shaping that future, delivering a wide range of major capital, refurbishment and campus-wide improvement projects across our estate. We’re now seeking a talented and proactive Programme Controls & Reporting Manager to help us continue raising the bar.

Why Join UEL?

  • A purpose-driven institution with a bold strategic vision
  • A supportive, inclusive and highly collaborative working culture
  • Investors in People and Race Equality Charter Award holder
  • Hybrid and flexible working opportunities
  • The chance to shape impactful built-environment projects that benefit students, communities and London’s future

About the Job

Reporting to the Director of Projects & Estates Development, you will lead the programme controls, reporting, governance, and performance insight functions across our portfolio. You’ll take ownership of processes, data, systems and dashboards that drive operational excellence, ensure informed decision-making, and support the delivery of a complex programme of capital works.

You will work collaboratively with project managers, business partners, senior stakeholders, consultants, and delivery partners, championing data-driven behaviors, portfolio visibility, and consistent controls. You’ll also line-manage a Data Officer and help shape a growing function within the team.

What You will Lead On

  • Developing, managing and continuously improving PED governance, reporting and controls frameworks
  • Producing portfolio, programme and project dashboards, reports and performance insights
  • Monitoring delivery progress, risks, dependencies and KPIs, ensuring stakeholders have the right information at the right time
  • Supporting strategic planning, board reporting and business case development
  • Driving best practice in data quality, analytics, visualisation and reporting tools (e.g. Excel, Power BI, MS Project)
  • Building strong relationships across Estates, Finance, Procurement, IT, Sustainability and external partners

About You

  • Experience in programme or project controls and reporting within a complex organisation
  • Strong analytical and digital skills turning data into meaningful insight
  • Understanding of portfolio governance, risk, scheduling, and change control
  • Confidence engaging senior stakeholders and influencing ways of working
  • Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and visual
  • A proactive, organised, curious and solutions-focused mindset

A degree in Construction, Project Management or a related field, plus experience or qualifications in recognised project/programme methodologies (e.g. MSP, PRINCE2, Agile) would be advantageous.
