We are seeking experienced and qualified Careers Advisers to join our ad-hoc delivery bank, supporting the delivery of Mapping Your Future – a targeted careers intervention for young people at low/medium risk of becoming NEET across Gloucestershire.
This role is well suited to practising or freelance careers professionals who are looking for flexible paid work alongside existing commitments. Engagements are offered on an as-required basis, with no obligation to accept work and no guarantee of ongoing hours.
GROWS is a consortium of higher education providers in Gloucestershire, led by the University of Gloucestershire. We deliver the Office for Students (OfS) Uni Connect programme locally and work in partnership with Gloucestershire County Council to support young people’s progression. Funding is currently in place until July 2026, with potential for extension.
Mapping Your Future is a one-day (4-hour) intervention delivered in secondary schools to Year 9 learners identified as at low to medium risk of becoming NEET. Advisers deliver four structured sessions in small groups (5–6 learners) over one school day, focusing on:
- The full range of post-16 education options and training pathways
- Building awareness of realistic and achievable next steps
All delivery materials, including a workbook and PowerPoint, are provided, and training will be offered.
We are particularly keen to hear from advisers who:
- Hold a recognised Level 4+ CEIAG qualification
- Have current or recent experience of delivering careers guidance to secondary-aged young people
- Possess strong knowledge of post-16 options in Gloucestershire
- Are confident facilitators, able to engage and motivate young people in a school setting
Delivery involves travel to schools across the county and the transport of session materials; travel expenses are reimbursed at University rates.
You will be supported by a knowledgeable and collaborative team and contribute to a high‑impact programme that makes a measurable difference to young people’s progression outcomes.
Please make it clear on your application if you are applying for this ad hoc role or the Outreach Support Officer role (in-school delivery of presentations and workshops) or both.
