The Project Manager II - Clinical Laboratory provides program-level oversight for a portfolio of Clinical Laboratory operational initiatives. This role is responsible for program governance, portfolio alignment, delivery performance, and stakeholder engagement. The position partners closely with senior leadership to ensure initiatives are prioritized, resourced, and delivered in alignment with organizational strategy. The role includes hands-on project management for selected initiatives and a small business analysis component in support of program and project execution.

This position will be full-time, Monday-Friday from approximately 8am-5pm. This will be a hybrid position requiring approximately 2-3 days per week onsite.

Responsibilities

Program Management

  • In collaboration with Clinical Laboratory and Research Administration leadership, provide program governance, prioritization, and coordination for Clinical Laboratory operational initiatives and project portfolio.
  • Ensures projects align with strategic objectives, operational priorities, and available resources.
  • Apply program and portfolio management practices to monitor performance, dependencies, risks, and overall program health.
  • Establishes and reports on program-level metrics, KPIs, risks, and issues for senior leadership.
  • Oversight in program budgets, including variance review, scope changes, and budget resolution support.
  • Leads program-level change management and communications related to clinical laboratory operational changes.
  • Facilitates program and executive meetings; drives decision-making, escalation, and issue resolution.
  • Develops resourcing strategies and addresses escalated delivery or capacity issues.
  • Coaches and supports project managers within the program and serves as a trusted advisor to stakeholders.

Project Management

  • Manages selected projects within the program using standard project management methodologies.
  • Plans and executes projects supporting the transition of early-stage therapeutics from laboratory to clinical implementation.
  • Partners with laboratory directors and managers, project sponsors, and cross-functional teams (Clinical laboratory operations, regulatory, facilities, information technology, finance) to deliver projects on agreed upon timelines. Manages the integrated portfolio and presents priorities for executive approval.
  • Develops and maintains project plans, schedules, and milestones; identifies and manages critical path activities and risks.
  • Leads project teams, meetings, and communications; tracks action items, deliverables, and decisions.
  • Selects appropriate project management tools to support execution, accountability, and reporting.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve project execution efficiency and supports prioritization of competing work.

Business Analysis

  • Documents current-state processes and gathers functional requirements to support program and project needs.
  • Acts as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Supports design, testing, and implementation of process or system changes, including basic test planning and documentation.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • At least 4 years of experience in complex project management.
  • Experience with managing multiple project portfolio, including dashboard development and maintenance.
  • Experience in facilitating portfolio level governance teams and leveraging these structures to establish priorities, review project health, and escalate/resolve blocking issues.
  • Highly effective collaborator and excellent communicator with an ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders, scientists, laboratory staff, and executives with diverse information needs and communications preferences.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with Program and Project Management methodologies and tools.
  • Advanced computer skills and deep experience with at least one Project Management software tool (e.g., Microsoft Project, SharePoint etc.).
  • Advanced meeting organizational, planning, and facilitation skills.

Preferred:

  • Clinical laboratory experience exposure.
  • Experience in business analysis, including process mapping, requirements gathering, and supporting system or workflow design and testing.
  • Experience with key project artifacts, such as charters, project plans, risk matrices, dashboards, and roles and responsibilities documents (e.g., RACIs).

The annual base salary range for this position is from $99,487.00 to $157,227.00, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

This position will be full-time, Monday-Friday from approximately 8am-5pm. This will be a hybrid position requiring approximately 2-3 days per week onsite. This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship at this time.
