- Employment Type: Full-Time (35 hours per week)
- Duration: Fixed Term Contract until June 2027
- Remuneration: Level 8 from $127k + 17% superannuation & leave loading
- Location: Kensington NSW (Hybrid Working Arrangements)
Why your role matters
The Project Manager will play a pivotal role in leading the planning, development and delivery of key strategic initiatives aligned with the University Annual Plan and Pillar 1 of Progress For All. This position is responsible for driving the successful delivery of university-wide projects and portfolio priorities that support UNSW’s societal impact agenda, while enhancing operational effectiveness and best-practice delivery across the organisation.
Working closely with academic leaders, senior stakeholders and professional teams, the Project Manager will lead and coordinate complex initiatives across a diverse stakeholder environment. The role will oversee project governance, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement and the facilitation of workshops to ensure agreed outcomes are delivered effectively and on schedule.
The successful candidate will contribute to strategic policy and framework development, portfolio-wide improvements and initiatives that strengthen impact, delivery capability and organisational performance. Reporting to the Executive Officer, this role offers the opportunity to work across high-profile projects that shape the University’s strategic direction.
Specific accountabilities include:
- Oversee and manage the delivery of key projects and initiatives to achieve operational and strategic goals.
- Undertake day-to-day project management, including the development, the delivery and the evaluation including input into project planning and documentation.
- Manage project dependencies, risks, issues, change requests and financials and work with relevant teams to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place.
- Manage adherence to UNSW governance pathways to ensure projects are managed within a defined, consistent and proven set of rules for project development and implementation.
About You:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Proven project management experience, with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
- Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
- Excellent influencing and negotiation skills with a wide variety of stakeholders.
- High level of experience working with a range of computer systems and applications.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
