Project Manager

About the role This is an exciting opportunity in the Department of Paediatrics, for a Project Manager to support the OptiViVax consortium, which aims to develop new vaccines against Plasmodium vivax. The project comprises a number of partners who will contribute to a diverse research project encompassing both pre-clinical and clinical deliverables.

The Project Manager will be a member of the Draper Group’s Operational team based at the Department of Biochemistry. The main focus of the role will be to manage the day to day activities of the EC OptiViVax consortium. The successful candidate will also support the Senior Project Managers with a variety of administrative and project management responsibilities related to a research portfolio which includes a number of pre-clinical and clinical projects. The postholder will have a background in biological or medical sciences and administration and will take responsibility for a wide range of processes, sometimes of a highly confidential nature, on behalf of the Senior Project Managers, interacting with pre-clinical lab teams, clinical teams and commercial partners, locally and internationally. The post holder will provide support in a range of areas, including recruitment, finance, communications, events management and scientific administration.

You will be working in a growing department within the Medical Sciences Division. The Department of Paediatrics is a world leader in child health research and hosts internationally renowned research programmes in drug development, gastroenterology, haematology, HIV, immunology, neuroimaging, neuromuscular diseases and vaccinology. This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract initially for two years or until 31 May 2028, whichever is earliest, with the possibility to extend provided further external funding is available.

About you We are looking for a motivated individual with a relevant degree in the area of biomedical science or a similar related field. You will be highly organised, have good interpersonal skills and be able to interact productively and collaboratively with other team members. Proven experience in research project management, good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.
