Job description:

The Cooper-Knock lab at the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN) is seeking a highly motivated Project Manager to coordinate our rapidly expanding research portfolio. Our mission is to uncover the genetic drivers of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) by integrating cutting-edge technology, including single-cell epigenetic profiling, machine learning, and large-scale whole-genome sequencing, to identify novel therapeutic targets. Following a period of 50% growth and over £1.2M in new funding, we lead four international networks spanning three continents and require a coordinator to act as the central hub for these global activities.

You will oversee the lifecycle of a diverse research portfolio, ensuring operational excellence across strategic planning, financial stewardship, and operational leadership. You will be responsible for aligning lab activities with long-term goals while managing complex project milestones and budgets. Beyond operations, you will act as a key liaison for global partners, support the drafting of scientific manuscripts and grants, and coordinate media outreach to showcase our findings.

We are looking for someone who can thrive in a fast-paced, international research environment. Beyond operational tasks, we are seeking a candidate with excellent communication and negotiation abilities, specifically the capacity to translate complex scientific information clearly for both expert and non-expert audiences at all levels. You should possess high IT proficiency, including experience with web and conferencing systems, and maintain a proactive, flexible approach to handling international stakeholder demands with tact and diplomacy.
