Project Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 5 years of professional experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred baccalaureate degree in the field or minimum of 15 year’s experience with renovation projects at a higher education institution or similar large organization.

Position Summary:

This position manages contracted projects across the main UGA campus. Duties include scope determination, budget development, and scheduling based on customer requirements. Project Managers communicate budget and schedule to project team members, coordinate and conduct pre-construction meetings, post-award partnering meetings, and closeout of projects. Project types include various multi-disciplinary projects (infrastructure, renovations, major replacement of equipment, etc.) ensuring compliance with contract documents and industry standards.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

  • Knowledgeable in project management.
  • Computer software (Microsoft Office, Assetworks AIM or other CMMS).
  • Skill in scheduling construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of construction estimating.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and general accounting principles.
  • Contract negotiations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of the construction and/or renovation project life cycle.
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes and regulations including (but not limited to) mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Ability to lead collaborative efforts involving all stakeholders to identify the project goals/objectives and establish agreement on customer expectations.
  • A self-starter that is accountable for assigned projects, including scope, budget development, scheduling design, procurement, construction, closeout, and warranty service.

Physical Demands:

  • Access mechanical rooms, roofs, vaults.
  • Climb ladders and stairwells to access all portions of campus facilities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Manage multiple construction projects simultaneously. This involves conducting routine progress meetings, ensuring adherence to plans and specifications, processing invoices, and providing updates to FMD leadership and stakeholders.

Draft, interpret, administer contracts and construction documents.

Percentage of time: 30

Serve as the point of contact for information related to assigned projects.

Percentage of time: 10

Negotiate and resolve conflicts at all customer/contact levels.

Percentage of time: 10
