About the Role
The Project Officer will be responsible for supporting and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Up the Hill Project, an inclusive university program for students with intellectual disability. The position is located in the area of Disability and Community Inclusion within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
The incumbent’s tasks will include supporting participants with goals and personal/professional development throughout their university experience; liaising with support people; developing and facilitating service plans; supervising student learning partners; building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders from broad and diverse backgrounds; preparation of documents and reports; general administration; and record keeping.
The role is also responsible for:
- Contributing to marketing, promotion and publicity of the program.
- Coordinating applications and intake of participants into the program.
- Liaising with academics/ teaching staff of the chosen topics to support access and reasonable adjustments facilitating effective participation/ inclusion for participants.
- Monitoring project finances.
About You
Your well-developed interpersonal skills, enable you to cultivate an understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of people with intellectual disability. This includes an individualised approach and liaising with support people as needed. Your excellence in communication both written and verbal, allow you to liaise and interact with individuals and professionals at various levels. Your excellent time management and prioritisation of conflicting priorities, highlight your well-developed organisational and coordination skills.
You will also be able to demonstrate:
- Completion of a degree in Disability and Developmental Education (or equivalent) with subsequent relevant experience.
- Ability to work independently within a framework of established procedures and routines.
- Well-developed experience and skills in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite of programs.
- Ability to supervise and support placement students, including providing induction and ongoing support.
- Demonstrated experience working within the systems of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), including, but not limited to, liaising with plan managers and/or other NDIS personnel, producing service agreements, and invoicing
