[Background of the recruitment and description of the project]
Institute for Future Initiatives(IFI) was established in April 2019 to organically integrate the Policy Alternatives Research Institute(PARI) and UTIAS Integrated Research System for Sustainability Science(IR3S). It constitutes one of the core organizations that support the Future Society Initiative (FSI) of the University of Tokyo, which aims to accelerate university-wide efforts to promote and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To create a sustainable future society, IFI makes policy and social recommendations on future society issues and pursues research in collaboration with society toward those ends. It also serves as an international network hub integrating university knowledge related to future society and as a platform for collaborative creation between industry, government, academia, and citizens to provide research-based alternatives for creating our future society and to help develop the human resources necessary to achieve it. https://ifi.u-tokyo.ac.jp/en/about/

Research projects at the Institute for Future Initiatives
- Integrated quantitative and qualitative research on scenarios and policies, focusing on decarbonization—particularly hard-to-abate sectors, demand-side measures, and novel approaches such as carbon dioxide removal—centered on Japan and the Asia-Pacific region
- Design, implementation, and analysis of surveys targeting stakeholders such as industry and government, as well as the general public
- Design, implementation, and coordination of domestic and international workshops with collaborators and stakeholders
- Preparation of reports and other outputs

Annual salary:5 million yen - 6 million yen
Wages description:In accordance with the Rules on the Application of the Annual Salary System of the University of Tokyo
The annual salary system applies. Approximately 420,000 yen to 500,000 yen per month including performance-based allowances (determined according to qualifications, ability, experience, etc.), plus commuting allowance (in principle up to 55,000 yen/month)

Holidays :Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, and year-end/New Year holidays (December 29 - January 3)
Overtime and other explanations:Under the discretionary labor system for professional work, the employee is deemed to have worked 7 hours 45 minutes per day.

Renewal is possible. If renewed, renewal is made on a yearly basis.
