Job Summary

Project RISE (Research-informed Interdisciplinary Scholar Preparation in Evidence-based Practices) is a federally funded initiative designed to prepare graduate-level scholars in the fields of special education, speech-language pathology, and occupational therapy. The program aims to improve learning and achievement outcomes for students with disabilities through the preparation of professionals who are equipped to implement high-expectation, evidence-based practices addressing the individual needs of students with high-intensity disabilities (e.g., Autism, intellectual disabilities, Dyslexia, Down syndrome).

Project RISE emphasizes the development of interdisciplinary competencies in:

  • Implementing evidence-based differentiated curricula.
  • Utilizing evidence-based individualized instruction (EDI) through the Data-Based Individualization (DBI) framework.
  • Engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration with families and service providers.
  • Exercising leadership to improve professional practices and services for students with disabilities in school settings.

The Project Coordinator will manage the operational and logistical aspects of Project RISE throughout the duration of the grant. This position serves as a central point of communication and coordination among project directors, faculty, graduate scholars, and external partners. The coordinator will support the efficient implementation, monitoring, and reporting of all project activities to ensure compliance with funding requirements and alignment with project goals.

$25.00

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate meetings, schedules, and communications among project personnel, university offices, scholars, and external partners.
  • Track project timelines, deliverables, and milestones to ensure timely completion of activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, records, and reports for grant compliance and program evaluation.
  • Assist in the organization and logistics of scholar activities, recruitment, orientations, training sessions, and events.
  • Maintain correspondence and act as a liaison with scholars, school partners, advisory committees, and other partners.
  • Support the preparation of progress reports, data summaries, and documentation for submission to funding agencies.
  • Manage project communications and materials, including newsletters, announcements, and online platforms.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, purchase orders, and budget tracking in collaboration with university administrative offices and Project Coordinator.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall success of Project RISE.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, communication, occupational therapy, special education, or related field.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating complex projects or programs.
  • Proficiency in office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Qualtrics) and digital communication tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or Advanced degree in education, administration, or related discipline.
  • Experience working in higher education, grant-funded programs, or special education initiatives.
  • Knowledge of federal grant compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with special education, interdisciplinary collaboration, or personnel preparation programs.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

The essential functions of this position are primarily performed in an indoor setting with limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work is often sedentary in nature and requires remaining in a stationary position for extended periods. Required abilities include speaking and hearing for in-person and virtual communication, using close and distance vision when reading documents or viewing screens, and performing tasks with repetitive fine motor skills. Work may require occasional lifting, bending, carrying, or otherwise moving objects weighing up to 15 pounds. Qualified applicants who can perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations will be considered.

Work Hours

  • The role is based on the Elmhurst University campus, with some remote/elastically flexible work as needed.
  • Some evening or weekend work may be required for events, trainings or partner meetings.
  • Travel may be required to partner schools, conferences or meetings associated with the grant.
  • This is a hourly, grant-funded position with an anticipated duration of four to five years, contingent upon continued grant funding. Compensation will be $25 per hour, with an estimated 4-8 hours of work per week (350 annually) over 48-weeks.
